UNIVERSITY TUITION FOR 3RD YEAR STUDENTS

One of the services offered by the School of Rock is university tuition. The first class was presented on the 19th of April, which was an introduction to the life-of-mine planning cycle of an open pit metal mine. Students had to introduce themselves and state where they see themselves 5 years from now, with some really interesting answers indeed... During the presentations, the sections of block-modelling, pit optimisation, mine design and mine scheduling were briefly touched upon. It was actually the pit optimisation part where most time was spent with students having most questions. This week the first tutorial will commence, where students have to design a haul road network in HaulNet, a module from RPMGlobal's OPMS mine scheduling package.
