    WELL DONE IKE!!

    WELL DONE IKE!!

This gentleman really took on the bull by the horns by completing training on RPMGlobal's Stratigraphic Metals Solution (SMS) as well as Geovia's Surpac. The training was conducted on the client's own dataset, which has the advantage that not only did Ike receive the necessary skill-set to build mining schedules, the client now has a schedule that can be used and further developed. Really proud of this calm and collected mining engineer!!
    MINE DESIGN!!

    MINE DESIGN!!

How sure are you that your mine designs have the minimum number of switchbacks? Have you tested the impact of having one switchback less, how that reduces your strip ratio and down-the-line costs, not to mention the health & safety of your employees ...? What about your benches & stacks, do they honour the geotechnical slope angles to prevent slope failure...? Your ramp systems on your interim high-walls - do they tie up with your final design and serve as dual access for tha

MINING ROCKSTAR OF THE WEEK – MONAZITE!!

Monazite is a rare phosphate mineral with a chemical composition of (Ce,La,Nd,Th)(PO4,SiO4). It usually occurs in small isolated grains, as an accessory mineral in igneous and metamorphic rocks such as granite, pegmatite, schist, and gneiss. These grains are resistant to weathering and become concentrated in soils and sediments downslope from the host rock. When in high enough concentrations, they are mined for their rare earth and thorium content - "Geology.com".
IS YOUR PIT OPTIMISATION ADJUSTED FOR THE CURRENT ECONOMY??

IS YOUR PIT OPTIMISATION ADJUSTED FOR THE CURRENT ECONOMY??

The mining industry is notorious for its volatile nature as commodity prices fluctuate. History shows that it's the companies that can adjust to the market changes the quickest that lead the pack. Mining on a 5-year old mine design that was based on a Whittle shell all those years ago can mean you're either leaving value in the ground, or more detrimental, you're now mining in areas where profitability is going South... With almost a decade of Whittle open pit optimisation ex

MINERAL PROCESSING METHOD OF THE WEEK - OPTICAL SEPARATION!!

MINERAL PROCESSING METHOD OF THE WEEK - OPTICAL SEPARATION!!

This process is used for the concentration of particles that have sufficiently different colours (the best contrast being black and white) to be detected by the naked eye. In addition, electro-optic detectors collect data on the responses of minerals when exposed to infrared, visible, and ultraviolet light. The same principle, only using gamma radiation, is called radiometric separation - Encyclopaedia Britannica.
