Basic Fundamentals

This short course is a blend of high-level concepts as well as practical tuition. This is a course educating candidates on the basics of mine design & scheduling of an open pit mine using state of the art mining software. The course consists of a task assignment where candidates are expected to do a basic design of an open pit as well as a waste dump using the advanced software. Furthermore, the mine’s required production profile will be given, and candidates have to figure out what the required ex-pit ore and waste tonnes must be to sustain the production throughput. The software enables novices as well as experienced mine planners to learn and understand the fundamentals of creating mine designs & LoM schedules. The course furthermore teaches the candidate how the waste dumps and pits function together as a business unit. The course is aimed at newly appointed mine planners who wish to understand the basic and fundamental concepts of mine design, as well as non-mining professionals working in the mining industry who wishes to gain a better understanding of mine design.
