Fanie Nel
Resource Estimator
Fanie is a geostatistician with 36 years of experience in the mining industry, all of which have been with Anglo American or one of its subsidiaries. Fanie is able to successfully complete large, complex multivariate estimation and simulation projects and have estimated some of the largest gold, diamond, and iron ore deposits in South Africa. He is registered with SACNASP as a scientist and competent to estimate iron ore, gold, and primary diamond deposits. Fanie is particularly skilled at scripting estimation projects, making them easy to reproduce, audit, and extend, which greatly reduces future workload.
Mike Carney
Geoscientist and Competent Person
Mike Carney is a registered professional geoscientist with more than 20 years of large-scale, iron ore mining experience. In addition to the geosciences, he also gained valuable exposure to open pit mine planning and mining engineering. Mike has held various roles as Mineral Resource Manager (MRM) as well as Technical Services Manager (MTS). Prior to his stint on the mines, he spent 13 years in exploration for various bulk commodities across South Africa.
Martin Stander
Mining Consultant
Martin's career spans over 45 years, on shafts and in the production environment of which 33 years have been in a Senior Managerial position in both the Gold and latterly in the Platinum Industry. Martin has held various roles including Mine Manager as well as Chief Representative during feasibility studies. Martin's most recent responsibility was to design, approve the feasibility study, and execute the projects to steady state production .
Ben Vorster
Mine Design & HME Engineer
With a career spanning over 30 years, Ben is an experienced Mine Planner with a demonstrated history of working in the electrical, mechanical and mine planning divisions of large iron ore operations. Ben is a specialist in the areas of pit optimisation, mine design, scheduling and HME modelling, being highly skilled in most open pit packages, including RPMGlobal's XPAC, Deswik CAD, Datamine Studio & NPV Scheduler.
Johan Wiese
Resource Geologist
With a career spanning over 20 years, Johan is an experienced geologist, specialising in iron ore deposits mostly locally, but also as far as Mexico and Mauritania. Johan's large-scale Brownfields & Greenfields experience includes exploration, grade control, production geology, and groundwater exploration. Recently Johan has been working in the chrome fields of the Bushveld Complex, exploring the Lower group, Middle group and Upper group chromite bands.
