BASIC MINE DESIGN COURSE

The seventh Basic Mine Design course will be conducted at the University of Pretoria, Mining Engineering Computer Lab on the 23rd & 24th of March 2020. Your host, Grant Crawley, is a Professional Mining Engineer with more than 18 years in-depth operational and planning experience. Some of the important aspects of the course to keep in mind are:

  • This is not a "death by PowerPoint" course, there will be an introductory session, and thereafter mine design software from industry will be used to do basic pit and dump designs to keep things interesting. The software is user-friendly and simplistic to use, so don't stress. A prize will be awarded for the best design!!

  • OPTRON has generously agreed to supply Trimble's Open Pit Design (TOP-D) mine design package for this course.

  • A lovely lunch will be served every day, and of course tea and coffee as well as other refreshments.

  • The course has been validated by the Southern African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (Validation nr SAIMM0116) with 2 CPD points been awarded for professionally registered persons.

  • A certificate will be awarded for successfully completing the course.

  • You do not need to bring your own computer, the software is installed on the desktops of the Mining Engineering Department's Computer Lab.

  • Accommodation is for your own account should you require it.

  • There are only 10 spaces available, so please complete the online booking to get your spot.

  • The price per candidate is R8 500 (excl. VAT).

  • Your spot will only be finalised once your proof of payment has been received.

The seventh Basic Mine Scheduling course will be conducted at the University of Pretoria, Mining Engineering Computer Lab from the 25th to the 27th of March 2020. Your host, Grant Crawley, is a Professional Mining Engineer with more than 18 years in-depth operational and planning experience. Some of the important aspects of the course to keep in mind are:

  • This is not a "death by PowerPoint" course, there will be an introductory session, and thereafter mine scheduling software from industry will be used to do a basic LoM schedule of a demo mine to keep things interesting. The software is user-friendly and simplistic to use as no scripting is required, so don't stress. A prize will be awarded for the best schedule!!

  • RPMGlobal has generously agreed to supply their Open Pit Metals Solution (OPMS) mine scheduling package for this course.

  • A lovely lunch will be served every day, and of course tea and coffee as well as other refreshments.

  • The course has been validated by the Southern African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (Validation nr SAIMM0117) with 3 CPD points been awarded for professionally registered persons.

  • A certificate will be awarded for successfully completing the course.
